Quick Referral Guide

• Step 1: You (the referrer) complete the PET/CT referral form

• Step 2: You send the authorised form to our Patient Referral Centre

  Identify your local ARSAC certificate holder and send them your completed form for authorisation. Once signed, the form can be posted, scanned, faxed or emailed (from the ARSAC certificate holder's secure NHS.net account only) to the Patient Referral Centre (PRC).

  
  

  If the referral details are incomplete then you will be contacted by a patient administrator by telephone within four hours.

• Step 3: We arrange the appointment with your patient

  Once the PRC receive a fully completed referral form, they will contact the patient within two working days to book an appointment. The PRC will then send a letter to the patient confirming the appointment details and including a patient information leaflet, which explains the process of a PET/CT scan. You will also receive confirmation of your patient's appointment details via email.

• Step 4: The scan takes place within 5 days of receipt of referral

  The patient will receive a reminder of the appointment 72, 48 and 24 hours before the appointment. Your patient will then attend the appointment, which usually takes place within five working days of the referral being received.

• Step 5: You receive the report within 2 days of the scan

  Following your patient's appointment, you will receive an electronic diagnostic report including images, via the PACS RIS system, within two working days.
